Biography

Jude Bass (b.1997 Thief River Falls, MN) is a photographer and a digital artist. Jude explores his photography work with fashion, political issues, religion, and small rural towns. Jude is currently working on exploring the issues, struggles, and awareness of the LGBTQ2+ community. Though people like to label him as a "Gay" Photographer, Jude states, "Since I'm gay, everyone likes to label me as a "Gay" photographer, and only my work revolves only on LGBTQ2+ themes. Yes, I'm gay, but I don't put the consideration of labeling myself as a "Gay" photographer; I'm just a photographer."

Growing up in a small town of 760 people and moving to a bigger city, Jude has shaped his work/concept through perspectives from urban life vs. smaller rural towns. His new photo series "Drag Me into the Conservative Town" tackles the issue with the smaller towns having intense homophobia with queer people returning to their hometowns, currently living in their small hometown or a queer person who randomly visits a particular small town. After graduating from the University of Minnesota Duluth, Jude plans to expand this project and explore LGBTQ2+/Minorites who currently live in a small town and bring their awareness of how it's a struggle to face homophobia, racism, and stereotypes.

Jude also experiments with videography.
